JEN MADRONE

Spiritual Wellness Coach and Teacher, Sound Healer and Reiki Master

Dedicated to the healing and spiritual evolution of the planet,  Jen has been guiding others through the processes of healing and transformation for over 20 years.

She teaches and guides from experience.  Her personal journey of Awakening and egoic death have given her a deep understanding of, and respect for the transformational process.  Her own experience has taught her that this process is beautifully destructive and can leave the experiencer feeling completely lost, alone, and questioning their sanity.

From her love of sound healing she has learned that everything is in vibration, having its own unique frequency, and it is this innate frequency that holds the key to our healing and growth.  Through resonance we can we can change the ingrained patterns of trauma and suffering and reconnect with our authentic vibration to create a life of peace, passion and purpose.

Through the years, her work has also been deeply influenced by her love of indigenous healing and mysticism. Within all of these studies she has found a common thread of perennial wisdom~a deep understanding that inside each of us lies an infinite potential for complete healing and deep transformation.

Practices for Ecological Grief: An embodied invitation to honor, open to, and move through our collective pain for the world in these times of intersecting crises, transition, and healing. Following opening meditation and the chance to connect with one another, we will begin with a discussion of ecological grief - the cost of repressing it and the radical power of opening to it - and how this relates to yoga as a relational, somatic, and embodied practice. We will then move together through a slow and accessible sequence that embodies the deep work of honoring, opening to, and moving through our collective pain for the world as a pathway for radical transformation. Our heart-centered practice, drawing on The Work that Reconnects and the wisdom of many other teachers for our times, will weave together meditation, pranayama, mudras, and yin and restorative asana, all within a safe, trauma-conscious container.

This practice encourages us to embody rest and slowness, a radical and necessary act in these urgent times. Yoga practitioners of all experience levels are welcome. Supportive props like blankets, blocks, and if possible a bolster are highly encouraged.

MARY GIFFORD

YOGA TEACHER

I started my yoga journey 25 years ago when my best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. As her live-in caregiver, it was suggested we try Restorative yoga for healing and to reduce the stress and anxiety during treatments. This became the beginning process of self love that would evolve my human experience beyond my wildest dreams. When I learned to utilize breath and movement as medicine I was able to harness a power and strength within myself that I never knew existed.

I have practiced all forms and styles of yoga as a way to navigate life with a focus on empowering myself from within. It wasn’t until I found Buti that a spark was ignited in me to teach that I couldn’t deny. Before coming into this most recent version of myself, I had suffered from a terrible abdominal hernia post the birth if my second child. It was recommended that I have a corrective surgery in order to repair the hernia if I had any hope of a normal life. Unfortunately my surgery was not successful. As a result of all of this trauma I had completely lost any core strength and no type of fitness regime was helping me to reestablish and re-knit those muscles of the inner and outer core until I found Buti.

All formats of Buti incorporate spiral structure technique® used to activate our deep core muscles paired with intentional shaking & vibration to release trauma stored at the cellular level. Primal movement, cardio dance + conditioning are seamlessly woven throughout balanced yoga sequencing to give you an ALL-IN-ONE workout that helps you transform your BODY + SOUL. The Bonus? You'll burn 600-1000 calories per class doing it. Buti not only changed my body but it changed me from the inside out giving me the confidence to be my authentic self, to show up for others, to be of service to my community above all else, and reminds me that power comes from within when I commit to myself and my mat no matter what.

Let’s work it cause you’re worth it!! I’m so honored and humbled to be a part of Humboldt County’s first ever Yoga Festival, so join me for a Buti movement class, get out of your comfort zone, and most of all let’s have some FUN!

After she graduated college she pursued and built a successful career for herself as a fitness professional and personal trainer. Her passion lies in her ability to connect with and inspire women to gain a sense of personal awareness, strength, confidence, and embodiment equally on the mat, within, and beyond.

KATY HOOGENDAM

Now my symptoms are very minimal and under control. More plants, happier life.

In November 2020 I graduated from Esak Garcia's e84 26&2 teacher training program and I’m now a traveling yoga teacher and USA Yoga competitor, teaching online and in person several times a week, and practicing 6-7 days a week. In my free time I love going on adventures and jumping into the yoga bubble as much as possible; learning so much as I go along!

BRITTNEY CROSBY

YOGA TEACHER

I was a 16 year old Florida beach bum when I first stepped onto the mat ~ in a little hot room on Anastasia Island. I knew after those 90 minutes, that this practice was rooted in my existence. Bikram was my first - it was hot and I was hooked. As a collegiate athlete I leaned on the asanas for reset and repair, while off season the mat was my home.

It wasn’t until a cluster of stars aligned in 2005 that my Ashtanga Journey began - when I walked into my first Mysore Style Class. Leaving humbled ~ I began my home practice and as it naturally evolved into a group practice, the energy ignited my passion to teach. So I set out for India in 2008 for an extended 6 month immersion in Ashtanga and Vipassana. Soon after returning, our energy out grew the home studio and in 2009 I opened an Ashtanga Shala in the exact space my journey had started a decade before.

I lived on the sound of undulating ujjayi and was honored to hold space and gift Ashtanga to my hometown. When the time came for me to grow again, I jetted back to India in 2011 for more asana and Vipassana and got an evolutionary download that shifted my teachings from brick and mortar classes to multi-continental workshops and retreats.

Fast forward to 2013 when motherhood became me and Humboldt took me in ~ My roots remained the same, so no matter my GPS ~ the mat always brings me home, the practice is my sanctity and teaching is my reward. Can’t wait to meet you on the mat.

ZENEC HARRIS

YOGA TEACHER

My journey with yoga began in May of 2019 when I took my first class at Humboldt Yoga. After just one class I knew that yoga had tremendous benefits to offer. As I continue to explore the practice I’ve found the benefits to be greater than imagined. Flexibility, increased strength, better sleep habits, and a healthier diet seemed to fall into place naturally. The yoga practice has also deepened my sense of connection to myself, my community, and the planet we all call home. The positive impacts of practicing yoga have been so abundant that from November 2021 to May 2022 I participated in a 200 hour Yoga Alliance Certified 26&2 Teacher Training Program; led by Esak Garcia and the e84 Teacher Training Program. With this foundation of knowledge I look forward to sharing this amazing practice with others for years to come. Furthermore, during the pandemic I participated in a 50 hr. Yin Yoga training by Bernie Clark and am happy to be leading a class every other Sunday.
